East Falls Row Home

This 100 year-old, two bedroom row home in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia had been renovated in the 1970s. A good part of the original federal woodwork had been removed and replaced with builder’s grade trim. The renovation gave the home a┬ámore open plan, but it lost most of the original character and quality of materials.

The goal of this recent renovation was to simply recapture the original charm while maintaining the quality of light gained by opening up the floor plan. The redesign and renovation of all three floors, exterior facades, roof and landscaping were taken on as a series of small projects over the course of 3-1/2 years. The work included all aspects of planning, design, cost analysis, construction and interior decoration. New work included new windows, roof, furnace, water heater, stucco repair, upgrading of exterior trim work, exterior retaining walls, landscaping, custom interior wood trim, new kitchen, new bathroom, repair and restoration of wood floors and all interior finishes.

Yoga Studio

This 2,040 sqft yoga studio in downtown West Chester, PA was designed to house a new community of Ghosh Hatha Yogis, a style of yoga that is not well known in the United States. It was my goal as owner to create a space that encouraged community building and maintained a welcoming and home-like feeling.

My responsibilities included design, documentation and construction management. The facilities include a heated yoga room, changing rooms, showers, bathrooms, laundry, storage and lobby. Radiant heat panels were used as the heat source for the yoga room.
