This project was for a couple who decided to downsize into a retirement home but did not want to downsize the kitchen and the ability to entertain. The original kitchen was a 150 square foot space with an addition which doubled the size of the kitchen to 300 square feet. The two spaces were disjointed and made circulation and function difficult when multiple people occupied the space.
The new design unified the two areas while maximized storage and counter space. The goal was to allow for gathering without disrupting the cook. New materials included wood cabinets, quartz counters, marble backsplash, ceramic floors, all new fixtures, trim and two new windows.
